Attorney Weronika Costas stopped ICE from deporting our client just hours before they put her on a plane to Honduras. Our client has an old removal (deportation) order from 10 years ago. Even though she has a Motion to Reopen pending with Immigration Court (which will get rid of the removal order once granted), ICE decided to go forward with her deportation. Within hours of finding out that she had been transported to Louisiana and was waiting for a flight to Honduras, Attorney Weronika Costas got a judge to order an Emergency Stay of Removal. After faxing the judge’s order to ICE, our client was immediately taken off the flight list, and was later transported back to Ohio where she is waiting safely until her Motion to Reopen is granted. Once her motion is granted, she will be released and reunited with her 2 minor children.
